Stronghold and, at the same time, home, the castle served that only function during the XVIIth century, when the Gadagnes made it their Country House.

In the following two centuries, the castle experienced diverse fortunes, but the surrounding gardens remained unchanged, arranged in terraces on several levels held by tall stone walls and protected by impressive ramparts. These Mediterranean gardens include aromatic plants, Pine trees, Cypresses, Rosemary, Bay, Lavender, Thyme, Salvia, and Santoline. Through the seasons, Roses, Iris, Valerians and Four O'clock flowers bloom on the ground, while growing up the walls are Plumbagos, Pervenches and Wallflowers.

The castle is divided into two residences, « Le Bastion » and « Les Arcades ». Each of these combines the charm of old stone with the comfort of modern technologies and furnishings. To the natural insulation of the thick stone walls has been added the insulation of modern glass, wooden shutters and insulated attic spaces. Solar energy provides both hot water and ventilation. The kitchens are equipped with every type of kitchen devices and utensils to give visitors the urge to prepare meals using the tempting produce sold in the nearby farmers'markets.Or, for those whose vacations demand complete relaxation, an experienced caterer can supply meals.
